About Naoyo
Practice Focus

Naoyo Mori is a Veterans Disability Attorney at Berry Law whose practice is informed by a distinctive combination of legal training, scientific expertise, and rigorous analytical experience. A PhD epidemiologist with extensive experience applying advanced biostatistical methods, she brings a sophisticated understanding of medical, occupational, and exposure-related evidence to her legal practice.

Licensed in Washington, D.C. and Maryland, she represents Veterans with a disciplined, detail-oriented approach.  Her scientific and analytical expertise is particularly valuable in cases involving complex medical evidence, occupational histories, and hazardous exposures. Naoyo understands that successful Veterans' disability advocacy often depends on the ability to interpret technical records, identify evidentiary gaps, and present clear legal arguments grounded in both science and law. She is committed to ensuring that her clients feel informed, supported, and vigorously represented throughout the legal process.

Role at Berry Law

At Berry Law, Naoyo focuses on helping Veterans pursue the benefits they deserve through careful case analysis and strong written advocacy. Her scientific and analytical background allows her to approach complex records with particular attention to the evidence underlying a claim and how that evidence fits together. She has described one of the most rewarding parts of her work as seeing a client finally receive those benefits.

For Naoyo, those outcomes are meaningful not only as successful legal results, but because of the tangible difference benefits can make in a Veteran’s life, including greater financial security and access to health care. Her work is shaped by a strong service ethic, close attention to detail, and a commitment to helping clients navigate a legal system that can often feel technical and overwhelming.

Scientific Background & Commitment to Veterans

Before entering the legal profession, Naoyo built her career as a PhD epidemiologist specializing in occupational and environmental health. Her work involved critically evaluating scientific evidence, analyzing complex health and exposure data, and applying advanced biostatistical methods to assess relationships between exposures and health outcomes.

She served as a lead epidemiologist and subject matter expert in occupational health and safety at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Hanford Site in Washington. In that role, she focused on issues involving workplace health, safety, and  the potential long-term health effects associated with hazardous occupational exposures. Her work provided firsthand experience addressing complex occupational health issues in an environment where questions of exposure, worker safety, and long-term health consequences carried significant real-world implications .

That experience also gave Naoyo firsthand insight into the challenges individuals can encounter when scientific evidence of occupational harm must be translated into a claim for compensation. She saw the limitations of advocacy within workers’ compensation systems and how difficult it could be for individuals to navigate those systems even when substantial scientific evidence existed. That experience helped shape her decision to pursue law and use her scientific background as an advocate.

Today, she brings that interdisciplinary perspective to her representation of Veterans. Her expertise in epidemiology, occupational health, and biostatistical analysis enables her to examine technical evidence with a depth informed by years of scientific research and analysis. Her legal training, in turn, enables her to translate complex evidence into clear, focused arguments in support of a Veteran’s claim. Her dedication is grounded in the belief that those who have sacrificed for this country deserve knowledgeable, determined, and compassionate legal advocacy. Throughout that process, she remains focused on the individual Veteran behind the medical records, scientific evidence, and legal claim.

Background & Interests

Together with her professional experience as an epidemiologist, these credentials provide a strong interdisciplinary foundation for analyzing the medical, scientific, statistical, and exposure-related evidence that can arise in Veterans disability claims.

Outside of work, Naoyo enjoys aikido, playing piano, painting, and hiking. She brings the same discipline, thoughtfulness, creativity, and curiosity to her personal interests that have shaped her scientific career and now inform her legal practice on behalf of Berry Law’s clients.
