About Andy
Practice Focus

Andy Liesener is a Veterans Disability Attorney at Berry Law who focuses on drafting appeals for Veterans seeking compensation and recognition for service-connected conditions. Based in Decatur, Georgia, he brings a writing-centered, benefits-focused approach to his practice and is known for working quickly, efficiently, and effectively to help clients secure the support they need with as little unnecessary friction as possible. His work is grounded in the belief that access to compensation and health care should not be blocked by technical barriers or administrative complexity.

Role at Berry Law

Andy’s day-to-day work is centered on helping Veterans move forward through the appeals process. He helps clients by drafting appeals for service-connected compensation benefits, and his focus is always on developing the strongest possible written advocacy on their behalf. That means translating a Veteran’s record, history, and legal entitlement into arguments that are clear, precise, and persuasive. He approaches the work with efficiency, but never at the expense of quality, because he understands that for clients, the outcome of an appeal can shape health care access, financial stability, and long-term peace of mind. He also supervises a team of case managers to ensure high quality and prompt work on appeals so that Veterans get their work done quickly without having to wait unnecessarily.

Service to Veterans

Although Andy is not a Veteran himself, military service is an important part of his family story. He has said that he believes every Veteran is an American hero and that one of the roles of this work is to be “heroes to our heroes” by helping them receive the benefits they are entitled to without being shut down by procedural or technical roadblocks.

Andy has also emphasized that he takes pride in helping Veterans secure not only compensation but also access to the health care they deserve. For him, this work is about more than legal arguments alone. It is about making sure former service members are able to receive the recognition and support that should follow their service.

Background & Interests

Before joining Berry Law, he worked at the VA Regional Office in Milwaukee, where he gained firsthand experience with the inner workings of the benefits system. He later represented applicants for Social Security disability benefits and then worked at the Social Security Administration, further deepening his understanding of how government disability programs operate in practice. That background gives him a valuable dual perspective: he understands both how claims are evaluated inside administrative systems and how to advocate effectively for people trying to navigate them from the outside.

Outside of work, Andy has been married for 12 years and is the father of two children. He enjoys reading, playing piano, and watching horror movies.
