Connor Sherman is a VA Disability Attorney at Berry Law who focuses on helping Veterans pursue the compensation and benefits they are entitled to under the law. Based in Washington, DC, he brings a practical, appeal-oriented mindset to his work and is known for approaching cases with patience, persistence, and a willingness to do the hard work necessary to move difficult claims forward. Connor’s day-to-day practice centers on identifying the evidence needed to strengthen a claim, spotting legal errors in VA decisions, and drafting appeals that explain why the law and the record support a favorable outcome for the Veteran.
Connor joined Berry Law in March 2025 and has concentrated his efforts on representing Veterans through a system that can often feel confusing, technical, and discouraging to the people trying to navigate it. He understands that when the VA issues a denial, many clients are unsure of what evidence is missing, what the next step should be, and whether the decision was based on a correct interpretation of the law. Connor’s role is to bring clarity to that process. He works to identify what the VA got wrong, determine what additional support is needed, and present arguments that give clients the strongest opportunity for success.
Connor has emphasized that there is little more satisfying than helping secure substantial back pay awards for Veterans and seeing the real-world impact those outcomes can have. In his time at Berry Law, he has helped recover hundreds of thousands of dollars in back pay and has personally helped bring some Veterans from a 0% disability rating to 100%. Those results reflect the kind of persistence and close case analysis he brings to his practice. He believes that with patience and persistence, Veterans can obtain the benefits the law provides when their cases are developed and argued effectively.
Although Connor is not a Veteran himself, service is a deeply personal part of his family history. Both of his grandfathers served in the military, as did his older brother, and he has also described having several friends and family members who served in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq. That background informs the conviction he brings to his work. Connor believes a country can be judged by how it treats its Veterans, and he is committed to doing his part to ensure each client receives every benefit they are entitled to by law.
His legal career has been shaped by representing people facing difficult battles against government systems. He has said that his work on behalf of Veterans grew naturally out of a broader desire to represent the “little guy,” a commitment that began with work involving Indian Tribes and pro bono Social Security disability claims. That perspective continues to guide the way he advocates today: with determination, careful legal reasoning, and a focus on helping clients who might otherwise feel overwhelmed by the process.
Before law school, he worked as a writer and editor for local publications in Tallahassee, experience that continues to influence how he reads, writes, and analyzes legal arguments. That editorial background is especially useful in appeals work, where clarity, structure, and persuasive written advocacy can make a decisive difference.
Outside of work, Connor enjoys reading for his book club, painting, and taking on home improvement projects. He brings the same analytical mindset and attention to detail to those interests that he brings to representing Berry Law’s clients.
