Jamie Pamela Rasmussen is a Veterans Disability Attorney at Berry Law whose practice centers on turning Veterans’ stories into clear, persuasive legal advocacy. Based in Springfield, Missouri, she focuses heavily on drafting appeals and translating the lived experience behind a claim into the legal and factual arguments an administrative system can recognize and act upon. Jamie understands that a Veteran’s story matters deeply on a human level, but that benefits are ultimately awarded through legal standards, evidentiary support, and careful written advocacy. Her work is aimed at bridging that gap, so clients receive both compensation and recognition for the sacrifices connected to their service.
Jamie’s broad professional background in appellate advocacy and disability-related systems brings depth to her practice. Her work reflects a steady commitment to careful legal writing, historical perspective, and a thoughtful understanding of how administrative institutions function.
Jamie’s connection to this work is both personal and practical. She grew up in an Army family, her father is a Vietnam Veteran, and her broader family history includes service by multiple uncles in both the Army and the Navy. She also attended the U.S. Air Force Academy from 1999 to 2002 before leaving for medical reasons prior to commissioning. Those experiences gave her a firsthand appreciation for the pride, sacrifice, and long-term challenges that often accompany military life.
She has said that ensuring Veterans have access to the benefits they earned is her way of serving. That perspective informs the seriousness with which she approaches claims and appeals, especially because she understands that what may appear to be paperwork or process to the outside world often represents years of pain, uncertainty, and unanswered need for the client. Her family’s history of service drew her to Berry Law, and it continues to shape the respect she brings to every matter she handles.
Before joining Berry Law, she built substantial appellate and disability-related experience through roles as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri, a law clerk with the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District, and positions with the Social Security Administration. That combination of appellate practice, administrative experience, and legal scholarship gives her an especially strong foundation for Veterans disability appeals.
Jamie is also a prolific writer whose work explores law, history, and the intersection between the two. Her publications include The Missouri State Penitentiary: 170 Years Inside "The Walls" (University of Missouri Press, 2012), as well as numerous articles. Outside of work, Jamie enjoys sailing, writing, reading, and spending time with her husband and two daughters. She is a certified sailing instructor, commodore of her local sailing club, and volunteers with her daughters’ Girl Scout troops when time allows.
