About Orron
Practice Focus

Orron Tate Hill is a VA-accredited Veterans Disability Attorney at Berry Law and a decorated veteran of the Nebraska Army National Guard who brings more than twenty years of legal experience to his work on behalf of former service members. His background spans military law, family law, public pension law, government legal service, and Veterans disability law giving him a broad and practical understanding of how institutions operate and how public systems affect the people who rely on them. Today, he focuses that experience on helping Veterans navigate disability claims and appeals, with a practice grounded in service, accountability, and a strong appreciation for what military families have already given to the country.

Hill’s connection to this work began long before he became an attorney. He began his legal career in the private sector, working as a litigation assistant. Following the events of September 11, 2001, and after he finished his undergraduate education, he became a paralegal in the Nebraska Army National Guard (NEARNG) in 2002. He worked with the Consolidated NEARNG Judge Advocate General (JAG) section, helping provide legal services to active-duty and retired service members participating in the War on Terror and to their families. After graduating law school in 2007, he became a Judge Advocate (a military attorney) and served as one of the two full-time NEARNG attorneys. That early experience gave him direct exposure to the legal issues affecting military communities and reinforced his commitment to public service. It also helped shape the perspective he brings to Berry Law today: one informed not only by legal training, but by firsthand experience serving those who serve.

Role at Berry Law

Hill has long viewed public servants as people who often sacrifice higher-paying paths to serve others, whether as servicemembers, Veterans, educators, or government employees. That outlook sits at the center of his professional identity. After spending over a decade and a half doing legal work with both state and federal government entities, he developed a rare understanding of the inner workings of agencies and the practical realities of navigating large systems. That experience now benefits his clients at Berry Law, where he helps Veterans confront a benefits process that can be complex, frustrating, and life-changing in its consequences.

His path to law was shaped by both study and conviction. While attending the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, he was deeply influenced by an Aristotle quote he encountered in a criminal justice class: “At his best, man is the noblest of all animals; separated from law and justice he is the worst.” That idea inspired him to pursue a legal career rooted in justice and service. He went on to enroll at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law in 2004 and earned his Juris Doctor in 2007.

Service to Veterans

Hill’s practice is informed by his own military service and by a longstanding commitment to helping those connected to the armed forces. His Veterans disability work reflects a belief that service should be met with competent, committed advocacy when former servicemembers seek the benefits they were promised. Because he has served within the military legal environment and later worked extensively in government settings, he brings both personal credibility and institutional familiarity to his representation of Veterans.

That service record is also marked by meaningful recognition. During his time in the Nebraska Army National Guard, Hill earned multiple military honors, including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, and additional commendations for his service. Those distinctions reinforce the depth of his commitment to duty and his longstanding connection to the military community.

Background & Interests

Hill earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln before receiving his J.D. from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law in 2007. While at UMKC, he was named the 2007 Family Law Student of the Year. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1995, a distinction that reflects the same themes of service, discipline, and leadership that have continued throughout his career.

Outside of his legal work, Hill enjoys traveling across the United States and around the world. His adventures have taken him to Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Africa, and many points in between. In the future, he hopes to visit more national parks, drive Route 66 in a classic car, and visit Belize, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and other far-off locations. He also enjoys reading, movies, and taking his family to new places so he can see the wonder in his children’s eyes. Those interests add warmth to the profile of an attorney whose career has consistently centered on justice, public service, and support for those who serve others.
