Rob Willard is a Veterans Disability Attorney at Berry Law who brings more than two decades of legal experience to the representation of former service members and their families. Based in Kansas City, Missouri, he advocates for Veterans at every level of the disability claims process, from the Regional Office and Board of Veterans’ Appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Rob’s practice is grounded in strategic legal analysis, a lifelong commitment to public service, and a deep respect for the generations of military service that shaped his family history.

Role at Berry Law

At Berry Law, Rob focuses on appealing denials of disability benefits and helps ensure that Veterans are fully seen, heard, and compensated for the sacrifices they made in service to the country. He has described this chapter of his professional life as a continuation of a lifetime devoted to public service. That commitment is reflected not only in his legal work, but in the consistency of his mission: to advocate for people whose interests deserve strong representation and to help repay a debt he feels is owed to the service members in his own family and to Veterans nationwide.

Rob believes every day serving Veterans is rewarding because it’s not a job, but a calling.

Service to Veterans

Rob’s connection to military service runs across generations. His family has served in the U.S. military from the American Revolution to Vietnam. His father served in the U.S. Air Force, first on active duty from 1955 to 1957 and then in the reserves through the Vietnam War. His father-in-law served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, and his grandfathers served in World War II in the Army and Navy. That legacy informs Rob’s view that serving Veterans today is a way of honoring those family members and repaying a personal and national debt.

Rob’s life has been devoted to public service, and advocacy. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout, devoted countless hours to community service, began his legal career as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. He later served in elected office. Those experiences collectively shaped a lawyer who sees service as a lifelong obligation rather than a temporary role.

Background & Interests

His career has included service as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, counsel for the Public Administrator’s Office, work in Social Security Disability law, and more than a decade in elected public office as Platte County Treasurer from 2013 to 2025.

His honors and leadership experience include recognition as an Ingram’s Magazine “40 Under Forty” honoree in 2015, past service as President of the Platte County Bar Association and recognition through the Kansas City Northland Chamber of Commerce Leadership Northland program. He is currently working towards a master’s degree in Defense and Strategic Studies at the Truman School of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Missouri.

Outside of work, Rob’s life centers on his wife of more than twenty years and their two teenage children. When he is not busy serving as the family chauffeur, he enjoys reading books on the Presidency, World War II, and the Cold War. Those interests reflect the same historical curiosity and public mindedness that continue to shape his work on behalf of Berry Law’s clients.
