About Thomas
Practice Focus

Thomas Rowen is a Personal Injury Attorney at Berry Law whose practice is shaped by more than 26 years of litigation experience and a rare ability to evaluate injury cases from multiple sides of the legal system. Over the course of his career, Tom has handled more than 25 trials, building a reputation as a seasoned litigator who understands how to prepare cases thoroughly, evaluate risk realistically, and advocate effectively when a dispute cannot be resolved short of trial. His practice today is focused on personal injury matters, where he represents clients, whose lives have been disrupted by serious injuries and works to help them pursue accountability, compensation, and a path forward. What distinguishes Tom’s background is the breadth of perspective he brings to every case. He began his litigation career in the Douglas County Attorney’s Office, where he served as a felony Deputy Douglas County Attorney and successfully obtained 11 jury trial criminal convictions while prosecuting violations of Nebraska law. That early courtroom experience gave him a strong foundation in trial advocacy, evidence, witness preparation, and the disciplined case-building that litigation demands.

Role at Berry Law

After his time as a prosecutor, Tom spent five and a half years at an insurance defense litigation firm representing insurance company clients in property, casualty, and subrogation matters. That experience gave him an inside view of how insurance companies adjust and process injury claims at the corporate level, including how cases are evaluated, defended, and positioned for settlement or trial. For personal injury clients, that background is a strategic advantage. Tom understands not only how to present a strong plaintiff’s case, but also how insurers and defense counsel are likely to assess exposure, credibility, and value.

Tom later opened his own solo practice, where he handled both plaintiff’s personal injury and criminal defense matters. Over a ten-year period, he gained firsthand experience not only as an advocate, but also as the person fully responsible for guiding clients through difficult and often life-altering legal problems. In that role, he secured jury and non-jury trial acquittals and dismissals in criminal and traffic matters, as well as plaintiff’s jury verdicts and settlements in injury cases. That combination of courtroom experience, entrepreneurial responsibility, and client-facing work helped shape the practical, steady, and detail-oriented approach he brings to Berry Law.

Before joining the firm, Tom also worked in a practice focused primarily on workers’ compensation and personal injury claims. That work required an in-depth review of medical records, treatment histories, and the specific ways injuries affect each individual client. It further strengthened his ability to understand not just the legal dimensions of an injury claim, but the medical and human realities behind it. At Berry Law, he brings that foundation to a team environment committed to helping injured clients pursue the best possible result for their circumstances.

Tom has described Berry Law as the premier personal injury law firm in Nebraska and has said he is honored to be part of an organization defined not only by knowledge and hard work, but by teamwork and a shared commitment to the success of those around them. That perspective reflects the way he approaches his own work: with respect for process, attention to detail, and a clear focus on making sure every claim is handled properly.

Background & Interests

Outside of his legal practice, he remains deeply connected to his family and community. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, following the Creighton Bluejays and Nebraska Cornhuskers, and spending time with his wife, son, and daughter. He has also served on the Field Club of Omaha Board of Directors, is a six-time club champion at the Field Club of Omaha, has volunteered with The Heart Ministry Center, coached his son’s basketball team over a ten-year period, and is a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic School Parish. Those long-term commitments reflect the same steadiness, discipline, and investment in people that have marked his legal career.
