His academic background reflects broad interests in legal systems, policy, history, and global affairs, all of which informs the analytical approach he brings to practice.

Outside of work, Turner is deeply interested in history and sociology and enjoys discussing both at length. He is also an editor for the Law and Development Review; a research publication focused on economic development policy. His interests include collecting antiques, especially historical books and encyclopedias, as well as hunting, fishing, and biking. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Lincoln East, which gives him additional opportunities to give back to the community.
