Legal Resources

Practical tools and clear information to help you understand your legal options. Explore Berry Law articles, videos, and calculators for Veterans, injured people, and their families.

Legal questions often come with numbers, deadlines, and decisions that are difficult to sort through on your own. Berry Law’s free legal calculators are designed to give you a clearer starting point. They can help Veterans estimate VA disability compensation, combined ratings, potential back pay, and hearing-related benefits. They can also help injured people better understand the factors that may affect the value of a personal injury claim.

For Veterans, the difference between a 70% rating and a 100% rating can be significant. So can the effective date assigned to a successful claim. Our VA disability calculators use the VA’s rating methodology and compensation tables to provide an estimate based on the information you enter. They do not replace a review of your service records, medical evidence, VA decision, or appeal history, but they can help you ask more informed questions about your case.

Use these resources to understand the issues, prepare for a conversation, and identify questions worth asking. If you need legal guidance tailored to your circumstances, Berry Law offers a free, confidential case review.

What if VA paid for my accident-related treatment?

VA may seek reimbursement from the responsible party or an insurer for accident-related care. This can include additional treatment when an accident worsens a service-connected condition. Tell your attorney so the VA claim and notice requirements can be addressed.

Car Accidents
Can an injury settlement affect my VA benefits?

The type of benefit matters. VA disability compensation is based on service-connected disability. VA pension has income and net-worth limits, so a settlement may affect it. Have your attorney review your benefits and any applicable repayment or offset rules before settling.

Personal Injury
Can a car accident change my VA disability rating?

An accident does not automatically change your rating. VA evaluates service-connected conditions using medical evidence. A new injury after service is not automatically service-connected. If symptoms overlap or worsen, the medical evidence and cause of those symptoms matter.
